The
State of Utah YHEC shoot was held last April at the
Cache Public Shooting Range with participants attending
from all over the state of Utah . Youth shooters that
participated in the State shoot were eligible to shoot
at the National YHEC shoot held in Raton , New Mexico
July 23 – 27, 2007. Seventeen youth from Utah attended
the National shoot with 15 of them being from Cache
and Box Elder counties.

The
National shoot is very fun but also very challenging
with the best shooters attending from all over the US
. I am pleased to report that the Utah shooters performed
very well. Participants compete for both team and individual
awards. The Utah Junior Team #1 consisting of Ty Anderson,
Rachael Hunsaker, Bretton Cranney, Cody Hatch and Heidi
Reeder placed in the top three in four of the eight
events.

also won second place overall with an impressive awards
packet given to each team member.

In
the senior division, Garrett Cranney was awarded first
place overall with the highest individual aggregate
score from all eight events and named National Grand
Champion. He was presented with an awards package including
a guided whitetail deer hunt in Pennsylvania December
2007.
The
Senior team ranked 6 th overall out of 33 teams.
The
Junior #2 team ranked 13 th overall out of 23 teams.
We
are very proud of these young competitors and their
accomplishments and we recognize that they performed
as well as they did because of their desire, focus and
continuous preparation.
